“Among Your Very Best“
“I think it must be among your very best and one that I have heard that best suits my hands and way of producing sound. To my ears, it has both a wide dynamic range and excellent control of timbres. Many guitars can be loud, but only the best also have the expressive range of colors that this one has. It is very easy to play, and this goes beyond the low action. I think the guitars that are fun to play tend to be the ones built either by experienced players, or builders who have listened closely to the advice of players.”

“Unrivaled Playability”
“Every time I pick up my Scafati guitar I am reminded again of how lucky I am to have it. It has a total richness of sound, combined with clarity, evenness across strings, separation of voices, a wide array of timbres, and volume level that all help it sing. On top of this, it has a playability that is unrivaled by any other guitar I’ve ever played. As responsive as the guitar is, so too is the luthier who made it. My experience was that Ivan was willing to work with any idea and provide help with even the smallest detail about which I was worried. As a result, the guitar is not only a fine piece of craftsmanship, but also a perfect match for me. I would recommend his guitars to anybody looking for one without any hesitation.”

“Four Roses Guitar – A Dream Come True”
“To commemorate a lifetime achievement, Ivan created a true work of art – the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen. Everything about this guitar was made with incredible detail and custom work. When the day came to pick up this guitar, I played a beloved Villa-Lobos piece I learned just for this guitar. Bringing out the melody was so easy and beautiful. It gave me more control than I’ve ever felt. Then I got to final D Major chord of the first section and the sustain just amazed me. My eyes widened and I couldn’t believe it. I had to play it again and again. The playability was so surprising, and the tone control let me easily do what I wanted. “

“NaPali Coast Ukulele”
“Following a trip to Kauai and touring the famous NaPali Coast, I asked Ivan to make a ukulele to remember this experience. I wanted a tenor ukulele in the style of Jake Shimabukuro’s signature Kamaka. This ukulele features carved mountain peaks in the headstock and a whale tail inlay at the 12th and 13th fret. We used the best Hawaiian Koa wood available. The thing about a ukulele is it has to have that Hawaiian sound and this uke no doubt has it. It’s clear and warm, easy to play and balanced over all strings. Although I really love playing this ukulele, sometimes I just stare at it.”
